When patented in 1992, FIBREX® was a game-changer for the window and door industry. Exclusive to Andersen, this composite material is made using real wood fiber, which gives it tremendous strength and allows for narrower frames.
Narrower frames = more glass area
With this composite material comes other advantages. It is a low-maintenance product and has very little expansion and contraction from weather changes, making it great for all weather applications and extreme weather applications. It also allows for darker colors than vinyl because of its ability to absorb heat up to 150°F.
